About MajorWho

MajorWho Media is a music production, artist development, management, and publishing company based in New York City. Working with a select group of outstanding young artists, Major Who assists them in accomplishing successful, sustained careers in the music industry. By empowering and partnering with promising unsigned artists, Major Who provides an attractive route to long-term career development.

Founded by outstanding musicians / producers Sheldon Steiger and James Walsh along with a group of investors, Major Who is dedicated to developing an independent roster of artists backed by the marketing, promotion, and production resources that major-label artists enjoy.

Sheldon Steiger started out working as a producer and engineer for the nascent alternative music scene in Washington DC in the late 80's. There he learned the old school ways of tracking to analog tape and mixing on large format analog consoles. In the mid 90's Steiger began to work closely with acclaimed artist Joe Jackson. He engineered and co-produced several of Joe's albums and toured with him during the Heaven and Hell tour. His collaborations with Jackson gave way to a host of high profile work with such artists as Bon Jovi, Desmond Child, The Verve Pipe, Paul Simon, PM Dawn and Larry Mullin and Adam Clayton from U2. Sheldon was an engineer on the acclaimed Theme to Mission: Impossible by Larry and Adam.

In 2000 Sheldon started working for producer and A&R man Steve Greenberg. During that tenure Sheldon was privileged to work with such artists as Joss Stone, The Baha Men, The Beu Sisters and many others. Steiger kept a studio with producer Michael Mangini for four years at Greenberg's S-Curve Records.

James Walsh is a producer, guitarist, studio owner, artist and business manager. He is chiefly known for creating a successful recording studio, Threshold Music headquartered in the Times Square area of New York City. The facility, in operation for almost fifteen years, has been employed by a wide assortment of both independent artists and established label acts. Walsh has produced and supervised hundreds of bands, musicians and thousands of recording sessions over the years as a studio owner and through his own classic rock fueled productions. James' passion for collecting vintage instruments and audio equipment along with his dedication to maintaining a state-of-the-art facility has given Major Who one of the finest production environments in New York City.

A magnet for both independent artists and industry professionals, Walsh successfully unites the two communities, helping to give Major Who the edge it needs to find, develop and bring to light the next generation of artists and songwriters. He loves listening to great songs, recording great sounds, executing ideas and business strategies, and bringing together like minded people. He enjoys playing with his two children and mentoring young people who need help through organizations such as Road Recovery and MusiCares.

With a strong emphasis on licensing, promotions and sponsorship oportunities, Major Who assists it's artists in finding the necessary resources to grow and get noticed.
